How to get Gourmet Diet Meals Delivered To Your Home
by D.A. Miller, Ph.D.

My "Easy Health Diet" book shows that controlling or loosing weight can be easy through smart food choices. Even traditional and ethnic foods can be made more healthful by lowering fat and salt content, reducing or removing sugar.

All diets that work follow one principle from physics, regardless of whatever theories their promoters claim. "If calories consumed are more/less than calories used, one gains/loses weight." In other words, "if it's on your body, it came in through your mouth." Much dieting advice is to make money by providing excuses for people to ignore this basic fact.

In case you have not discovered it on your own, official credentials do not guarantee good advice. Some physicians, nutritionists, even Ph.D. scientists, are down right stupid and/or fraudulent, which does not prevent some of them making a lot of money.

Many people have complaints like these, about following good diet plans. "Diets are so boring" (not necessarily). "I can't cook without tasting" (uh oh). "I'm far too busy to make good meals". "Cooking for one is terrible." "I hate to cook." "I can't cook." What's your favorite excuse?

Which brings up the concept of healthful meals delivered to the door at affordable prices. A good home delivered meals program can cost less per day for 3 meals than a single dinner at a typical family restaurant. And it can spare you from the high salt, sugar, and saturated or trans fat content of very many brands of frozen dinners.

**If you try a diet plan, don't confuse things by eating between meals.**

Also, do be cautious, because meals can be bad for you if prepared according to faulty fad diet plans. My diet book mentions some plans to avoid, such as "low carb", "Atkins", and similar. I forgot to include the absurd "acid alkaline balanced diet" theory, which is not even mentioned at mayoclinic-dot-com or various government sponsored medical sites.

Sometimes a diet plan can lose weight even if it is based on nutty theories. Such includes Dr. Barry Sears "Zone Diet, can turn off inflammatory genes and simultaneously turn on anti-inflammatory genes that promote cellular rejuvenation, repair and healing." What really counts is calories in minus calories burned, end of story.

You might find some good local meal-deliveries through your phonebook or online yellow pages.

You might want a service that supplies people in 48 of 50 US states, which let you know, even select, the diet model to be used. Here are some apparently good choices I found on the internet, shown in arbitrary order.

eDiets.com lets one choose from a variety of dietary models, in case you have strong feelings about any. I would start with their "Low-fat flavorful menus." Their pull-down menu exposes all their models.

A bistro is a familiar name for a type of small restaurant serving moderately priced simple meals in an unpretentious setting. Thus the site's logo and domain name of bistromd.com: "Dr. Caroline J. Cederquist, M.D., weight loss program - - It’s a proven strategy that works! Losing Weight Has Never Tasted So Good!" The site offers good articles on diet, including "Guide to Carbohydrates: They are not the enemy."

Chefs Diet Advantage seems to favor letting dieters see familiar food types. Whereas I have totally eliminated all pies, cakes, cookies, and other pastries, they offer imitations that have been made safer, such as low fat donuts.

Do whatever works for you.
